US | Health Care Without Harm opposes repeal of Clean Power Plan

The Environmental Protection Agency announced a new rule to undo the Clean Power Plan. In response, Health Care Without Harm issued a statement opposing this action and urging President Trump and Administrator Pruitt to protect public health by adopting a strong national carbon standard.

Health Care Without Harm also joined a coalition of 17 health organizations in opposing the latest move by the Trump administration to roll back critical environmental protections that safeguard human health.

Coal-fired power plants are a leading source of carbon emissions and toxic pollution, causing asthma and other respiratory illnesses, heart attack, stroke, and premature death, as well as harmful effects on the brain and nervous system. We must act quickly to reduce our reliance on coal and other fossil fuels if we are to avoid the worst impacts of climate change and protect the health of our families and communities.
