Turkey | Medical award given to HEAL for fighting coal in Bursa

At a ceremony on National Doctor’s Day for Turkey, the Bursa Chamber of Medicine awarded its 2017 Environment Prize to the Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL), the Healthy Energy Initiative’s European partner. The Bursa Chamber of Medicine is the official local branch of the Turkish Medical Association, which has 83,000 members.

Turkey | HEAL Launches Toolkit for a “healthy energy” future

15 February 2016 — The Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL), the Healthy Energy Initiative’s Europe partner, has launched a new toolkit on coal power generation and health in Turkey. The aim is to support local health professionals and community groups engaged in initiatives to prevent new coal power plants from being built.

Turkey | Doctors Say Cleaner Air Would Offer Major Health Benefits

A new fact sheet released this week by Healthy Energy Initiative’s Europe partner, the Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL), highlights the heavy toll on health resulting from exposure to poor air quality in Turkey. The report was endorsed by five medical organisations including the Turkish Medical Association, Turkish Society of Public Health Specialists, Turkish Thoracic Society, Turkish Respiratory Society and Turkish Occupational Medicine Society.
