About the Rock Environment & Energy Institute
The Healthy Energy Initiative in China is coordinated by the Rock Environment & Energy Institute (REEI). REEI is an independent think tank providing research support for organizations in China on environmental issues such as energy policy, air pollution, and climate change.
Highlights
REEI has led a series of pilot activities in China to encourage greater collaboration between the energy and health sector: hosting a roundtable with leading health researchers, conducting a literature review, identifying key partners and champions in the health sector, and coordinating with local and national environmental groups.
REEI released a literature review called “Unbearable Burden: Health Impact of Coal Combustion in China” in February 2014. It also convened a successful roundtable in Beijing in May 2014 with 20 participants from leading health institutions in China.
